She’s the ninth of 12 children. The eight is a brother with Down Syndrome. And then her parents adopted three more boys also with Down Syndrome. She’s Maddy Curtis. The 16-year old girl who got the first golden ticket to Hollywood this season.
Maddy Curtis auditioned in Boston for American Idol Season 9, sang “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Armed with a heart-warming family story, Maddy entertained the American Idol judges with her voice which Simon Cowell commented “has a soul in it” and Randy Jackson said was “nice”. Kara Dioguardi even told that Maddy got “an old soul”. Guest judge Victoria Beckham was also impressed by Maddy’s audition.
She’s got a good voice. But will she make it in the long run just like any other 16-year old hopefuls in the past seasons of American Idol like David Archuleta and Jordin Sparks?
Maddy ended her interview talking about her brothers with Down Syndrome saying, “They see the world in colors, and we need to see the world that way”. Will Maddy make it to American Idol Season 9’s final cut with flying colors?
